I decided to finally start my blog so I could remember everything I’ve done in Europe. So for now I’ll play catch up.

February 5th (London): Lots of sleeping because of Jet lag. Then there was a welcome drink in the hotel bar.  When I went to get dressed, ect, to go out, my hair straightener basically burst into flames despite my voltage converter. Of course, I immediately ran out and bought a new one. Then me and a few people from my program went out to some bars.

February 6th (London): Got up early to go on a walking/bus tour of all of London.  Our tour guide was amazing and knew her stuff and was funny, as well.  We hit all the major spots on the tour and it was good because it give us an idea of what we wanted to see later in the day.  The tour ended in Covent Gardens, which was like an indoor/outdoor market/bazaar.  My small group decided that we wanted to eat, then explore the shopping streets and then the park where Peter Pan was thought up.  We all had Pasties, which were like giant hot pockets. Delicious. I had pork and apple.

We then got on the underground (tube, as they call it) and got off at Leicester Square to look for cheap theater tickets (which were still 60 pounds). Then we went to Piccadilly Circus, which was like a mini times square/common meeting spots for locals.

Then to Hyde Park Corner, where Harrod’s was. After visiting Harrod’s we walked towards Kensington Gardens, where royals once hunted and is now a park. On the way, we went into the Victoria & Albert museum, which was free to enter, as all museums in England are. The best exhibit was the fashion section (of course). After spending a little time in the V&A, we headed to Kensington Gardens.  This was my favorite place. There was a tribute to Prince Albert and it was the setting for J.M Barry’s Peter Pan.

After sightseeing, we walked back to our hotel and got ready for dinner and going out.  We went to several pubs close to our hotel then after they closed, we went back to Piccadilly Circus and bummed around there.

February 7th (Transit): Woke up early once again, flew from London (Heathrow) to Munich, Germany. Short flight, slept the entire time.  Once we got there, we went directly to a coach bus and drove to Salzburg.  On the bus we found out where we would be living and our roommates. When we got to Salzburg it was 7:00 PM and we all took taxis to our new rooms.  Then some people from my dorm and I found some place to eat then walked around the city for a little while.

More later,

Emily
